Rinse and drain soaked chickpeas.
Add the uncooked chickpeas and 4 cups of water to a medium size pot, bringing to a boil. Then lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until chickpeas are cooked through. Drain.
Add the cooked chickpeas, peanut butter, maple syrup, cocoa, vanilla extract and salt to a food processor. Process until smooth then add water and continue to blitz until creamy for another 30 seconds.
Serve with sliced apple and pretzels if desired.
