Saffron Poached Pears

Step 1

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and gently poach the pears until tender, for approximately 2 hours. Leave overnight. Ensure pears remain immersed in liquid.

Step 2

Remove pears, return syrup to heat and simmer to reduce to a sticky glaze. Pour glaze over pears and serve with ice cream or cream.

Step 3

Bottle the left over syrup to enjoy as a topping on your favourite ice cream.
