Make your own tasty baked beans and save!
Prepare and cook McKenzie's White Beans as directed on pack. Drain and set aside.
Preheat oven to 180C.
Mix together treacle/molasses, mustard, sugar and stock powder with a small quantity of tomato puree. Add remaining puree, onion (if using) and beans, stirring together well. Season to taste.
Place in oven proof dish, cover and cook for 30 minutes or until heated through.
If sauce reduces too much during cooking, add a small amount of water. Serve.
For a nutritious breakfast, serve baked beans on toasted wholewheat or rye bread, sauteed spinach leaves and poached eggs. This recipe can also be used to stuff baked potatoes for a tasty and nutritious light meal.
