Make your own tasty baked beans and save!

| 250g | McKenzie's Haricot Beans |
| 410g | tomato puree |
| 1 | small onion, diced finely and sauteed (optional) |
| 1 teaspoon | mustard (mild American or Dijon) |
| 2 teaspoon | sugar |
| 2 teaspoon | treacle or molasses |
| 1 teaspoon | chicken stock powder |
| To taste | McKenzie's Australian Natural Sea Salt |
| To taste | McKenzie's Whole Black Peppercorns |
Directions
Step 1
Prepare and cook McKenzie's Haricot Beans as directed on pack. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
Preheat oven to 180C.
Step 3
Mix together treacle/molasses, mustard, sugar and stock powder with a small quantity of tomato puree. Add remaining puree, onion (if using) and beans, stirring together well. Season to taste.
Step 4
Place in oven proof dish, cover and cook for 30 minutes or until heated through.
Step 5
If sauce reduces too much during cooking, add a small amount of water.
Serve.
Step 6
For a nutritious breakfast, serve baked beans on toasted wholewheat or rye bread, sauteed spinach leaves and poached eggs. This recipe can also be used to stuff baked potatoes for a tasty and nutritious light meal.
